Singaporean Prime Minister Lee Hsien Loong has said the upcoming general election will take place soon and will be “critical” as it will “round out a team” which can take the island state into the future.
Delivering the National Day Rally speech on August 23, PM Lee held that Singapore is at a turning point, having just completed 50 successful years and starting on its next 50 years of nationhood.
He mentioned all issues which Singapore is encountering, ranging from economic development, national stability, and racial reconciliation to occupations, education, health and assistance for the elderly.
He also called upon people to support the ruling People’s Action Party (PAP).
The general election is likely to be called in this September with the engagement of 2,460,977 electors, up 4.7 percent against 2011, to vote for 89 seats.-VNA
