Hanoi (VNA) – Delegations of the Vietnam Coast Guard (VCG) and the China Coast Guard (CCG) held talks in Hanoi on August 27 as part of their first exchange programme on the Party and political affairs.

Lieutenant General Bui Quoc Oai, Political Commissar of the VCG, affirmed that Vietnam always views the enhancement and development of the “friendly neighbourliness, comprehensive cooperation, long-term stability, looking towards the future” with China as an objective requirement, strategic choice, and top priority in its foreign policy.

He highlighted cooperation results between the VCG and CCG in recent years, including establishing communication units to frequently share information about law enforcement, search, rescue, and marine environment protection; holding mutual visits, joint patrols, and joint exercises; and organising exchanges between young officers.

Oai noted that the VCG considers the implementation of Party and political affairs as a basic principle and important part of the Party’s leadership over the coast guard force. The Party and political affairs include political and ideological education, the building of politically and ideologically strong Party committees and organisations, along with the maintenance and reinforcement of close-knit ties with the people.

Via those activities, the VCG force has been developing comprehensively with combat readiness, law enforcement, and search - rescue capacity improved; internal solidarity and unanimity sustained; and the solidarity with the people strengthened, thereby creating synergy for the VCG to fulfill all tasks and affirming its stature among law enforcement forces in the region and the world, according to the Vietnamese official.

Major General Liu Houjie, Deputy Political Commissar of the CCG, stressed the importance of the exchange on Party and political affairs between the two forces, considering this as a chance for them to foster result-oriented cooperation.

He said both Vietnam and China are socialist countries, share many similarities in Party and political affairs, and have many useful experiences for each other. This will help enhance mutual trust and friendship between the forces, he added.

During the talks, the two sides looked into the focuses of their Party and political affairs, as well as the orientation for holding the second exchange programme in China./.
