According to statistics from the management board of thepark, in the period, it saw 1,586 out of 2,510 sea turtle nests successfullyhatched in its incubators. Meanwhile, tracking devices were attached on 402mother turtles coming to lay eggs on Con Dao beaches.
The park has been working hard to conserve sea turtles (Chelonioidea)for years, becoming an ideal nesting destination for the rare species inVietnam.
Le Hong Son, head of the board’s conservation-international cooperationoffice, said more than 450 mother turtles lay eggs on 18 beaches in the park everyyear.
Son added that many conservation programme are beingimplemented at the park, including those on studying ecological characteristicsof sea turtles, protecting their nesting habitats and nests; and building ahatchery, among others.
Meanwhile, on a monthly basis, the park receives some 700tourists coming to watch turtles laying eggs./.
