The workshop was jointly held by the Centre ForSustainable Community Development (SCODE) and the Vietnam Association forConservation of Nature and Environment (VACNE).
It looked into a circular replacing Circular No05/2016-TT-KHDT on integrating the fight against natural disasters and climatechange into socio-economic development plans.
The delegates took note of Vietnam’s commitment to netzero emissions by 2050 presented at the 26th United Nations Climate ChangeConference of the Parties (COP26) in Glasgow, the UK last month.
The commitment demonstrates Vietnam’s huge efforts towork together with the international community in climate change response, theysaid.
The Ministry of Planning and Investment incoordination with the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) on November19, 2021 issued a document on the consultation of draft Circular No05/2016-TT-KHDT.
The delegates also discussed the draft framework onthe integration of national disaster and climate change response into communal socio-economicdevelopment plans.
Dr. Nguyen Van Liem, an expert in climate change, saidthe integration should undergo different steps, including assessment,ratification, implementation, supervision and adjustment.
He also suggested maximizing resources fromorganisations and businesses in this regard./.
