TheChairman lauded the significant achievements and contributions ofCardinal Nguyen Van Nhon and all Catholic followers to the city over thepast year.

The Chairman said he hopes the Catholic communitywill work collectively to develop a civilised and modern Hanoi andreduce poverty.

In return, the Cardinal thanked the municipal authorities for creating favourable conditions for local Catholics.

Hesaid he is honoured to be one of 20 Cardinals around the worldappointed by Pope Francis in 2014, saying he will do his utmost to servethe Vietnamese Catholic community.-VNA
