Ninh Thuan (VNA) – Work on the construction of Chinh Thang wind powermill, with total investment of more than 1.7 trillion VND (73.19 million USD),started in Thuan Nam district, the south central coastal province of Ninh Thuanon April 25.
According to Lai Nhu Y, director of Chinh Thang Wind Power Co.,Ltd, the 50MW mill,applied with advanced turbines and technology, will begin generatingelectricity in April 2020.
The firm commits to mobilising resources to carry out the project in line withschedule, and hopes to receive further support from the provincial People’sCommittee to develop another 50 MW power plant in the locality in the comingtime, he added.
Chairman of the provincial People’s Committee Luu Xuan Vinh affirmed that thelocal authority always creates favourable conditions for businesses to landinvestments in the province, particularly those developing renewable energyprojects.
Following the ground-breaking ceremony, besides working to ensure constructionprogress and quality, labour safety and environmental hygiene, the firm shouldprioritise local labourers in its recruitment plan, and join hands with theprovince to implement social welfare activities in the province, he said.
Ninh Thuan province is envisioned to become a renewable energy centre inVietnam under the Government’s Resolution No.115/NQ-CP dated August 31, 2018.The province is hoping to attract wind and solar power projects with totalrespective capacities of 1,429 MW and 3,912 MW by 2030. To realise the goal, itis promoting investment attraction, and creating the best possible conditionsfor investors.
Based on the Prime Minister and the Ministry of Industry and Trade’s planning, theprovince has agreed in principle for many renewable projects, with solar powerprojects securing nearly 50 trillion VND (2.15 billion USD) in investment andhaving combined capacity of over 1,816 MW; and wind power projects attractingsome 27.9 trillion VND (1.2 billion USD) and having combined capacity of 800MW.
Three wind power mills have become operational so far, namely Dam Nai, Mui Dinhand Trung Nam. They together generate 900,000 kWh of electricity a day.-VNA
