Chinese President Xi Jinping will pay an official visit to Singapore in November, Singapore's Deputy Prime Minister and Coordinating Minister for National Security Teo Chee Hean announced on October 13.
Teo revealed the visit during his meeting with Chinese Vice Premier Zhang Gaoli who is in Singapore for a working visit from October 12-14.
It would be Xi's first visit to Singapore since becoming the President of China. He had previously visited the Southeast Asian country in 2010 as Vice-President.
During Zhang’s working visit, he and his Singaporean counterpart co-chaired the 12th Joint Council for Bilateral Cooperation (JCBC), the 17th China-Singapore Suzhou Industrial Park (SIP) Joint Steering Council and the Eighth Sino-Singapore Tianjin Eco-City (SSTEC) Joint Steering Council meetings.
At the meetings, the two sides discussed measures to strengthen cooperation in existing fields and further expand bilateral ties, including the proposed third government-to-government project in China's western region and the upgrade of the China-Singapore free trade agreement.
They are expected to sign several bilateral cooperation agreements.-VNA.
