Chinese Party official calls for deeper relations with Vietnam

The parties of China and Vietnam should enhance high-level delegation exchanges, reinforce political trust, promote strategic connectivity, and effectively control disputes, for healthy and stable ties between the two parties and countries, a senior party official of China has said.

Beijing (VNA) – The parties ofChina and Vietnam should enhance high-level delegation exchanges, reinforcepolitical trust, promote strategic connectivity, and effectively controldisputes, for healthy and stable ties between the two parties and countries, asenior party official of China has said.

Zhao Leji, member of the Communist Party ofChina’s Politburo, Secretary of the Party Central Committee Secretariat andhead of the Party Central Committee’s Organisation Department, made the remarksduring talks with Pham Minh Chinh, Politburo member, Secretary of the CentralCommittee of the Communist Party of Vietnam and head of the Party Central Committee’sOrganisation Commission, in Beijing on December 11.

He said the Chinese Party, State and people willspare no effort to deepen relations with Vietnam.

For his part, Chinh stressed that the twocountries should strengthen their friendship and cooperation and jointly createa peaceful and stable environment for future development on the basis of the sharedawareness on the importance of Vietnam-China relations.

He confirmed that the Vietnamese Party and Statealways attach great importance to the comprehensive strategic cooperativepartnership with China, and regards this as a top priority and strategic choicein the country’s external affairs policy.

He proposed the two sides focus on increasing politicaltrust via high-level delegation exchanges, improving the efficiency of cooperationmechanisms, particularly the meetings between Politburo representatives, andsharing experience in theoretical research and Party building.

The official also recommended implementing moreeffectively the training cooperation plan for 2016-2020 while stepping up coordinationin defence, security, and external affairs in addition to people-to-peopleexchanges, economics, and investment.

He called on Vietnam and China to join hands toaddress maritime issues, especially in implementing the agreement onfundamental principles guiding the settlement of sea issues, to maintain peaceand stability in the East Sea as well as in the region and beyond.


Politburo Pham Minh Chinh is leading a Vietnamese Partydelegation on a working visit to China from December 11-15./.
