Foreign Minister Wang Yi made the remarks at apress conference following a meeting with his Philippine counterpart Alan PeterCayetano in Beijing.
Wang said China has sent its first shipment ofemergency supplies and equipment to the Philippines and will continue toprovide necessary support.
He added that Beijing is willing to coordinatewith regional countries, including the Philippines, to cooperate in informationexchange, law enforcement and fighting cross-border terrorism and other issues,in order to maintain peace and stability in the region.
The two sides also reviewed cooperation betweenChina and the Philippines since the normalisation of bilateral relations inOctober 2016.
China is the largest trade partner of thePhilippines. The two countries have signed 22 cooperation documents ininfrastructure, trade, agriculture, energy, tourism and other fields. ThePhilippines' exports to China have significantly increased in the past sevenmonths.
According to Wang, the two sides also agreed toenhance cooperation via the Belt and Road Initiative.
He affirmed that China will support thePhilippines as rotational chair of the Association of Southeast Asian Nations(ASEAN) this year to deepen China-ASEAN relations and cooperation withSoutheast Asian countries.-VNA
