The consensuses were reached after the first-ever ministerial meeting onlaw enforcement cooperation between Chinese State Councilor and Minister ofPublic Security Zhao Kezhi and Lao Minister of Public Security Somkeo Silavongin the Lao capital of Vientiane on May 13, according to a statement released bythe Chinese Ministry of Public Security.
The two sides agreed to jointly intensify the efforts to crack downtelecom fraud, cross-border human trafficking, illegal immigration andstrengthen cooperation in safeguarding national security, anti-terrorism, andimmigration management, said the statement released on May 14.
The two countries will also establish the security cooperation mechanismfor major projects, increase joint border patrols and management, and deepenthe law enforcement and security cooperation along the Mekong River.
China and Laos will strengthen anti-drug cooperation by enhancinginformation and intelligence exchanges and case-handling cooperation in thisregard, continue to promote the operations to fight against the drug-relatedcrimes along the Mekong River and establish and improve the cooperationmechanism between local law enforcement authorities of the two countries.-VNA
