Chinese State Councilor Yang Jiechi made the statement in atelephone talks with US Secretary of State Mike Pompeo after the DPRK-USA HanoiSummit Vietnam on February 27-28 failed to reach an agreement.
Meanwhile, Kremlin spokesperson Dmitry Peskov said on March1 that the US is yet to inform Russia of the outcomes of the summit.
Earlier the same day, Foreign Minister of the Republic ofKorea (RoK) Kang Kyung-wha and the US Secretary of State held a telephoneconversation about the outcomes of the summit.
The RoK Foreign Ministry said though the US and DPRK failedto reach an agreement, Washington’s consistent efforts to maintain the dialoguewith Pyongyang is significant, and added that the RoK wants to keep closecontact with the US on the issue.
Pompeo, for his part, highlighted the importance of theclose cooperation between the US and the RoK, affirming that the US willcontinue talks with the DPRK.
During the summit, DPRK leader Kim Jong-un suggested theindefinite end to nuclear tests and long-range missiles while US President DonaldTrump vowed to not increase sanctions against the Asian country, which isconsidered a positive result.-VNA
