Moscow (VNA) – Chairman of the State Duma of Russia VyacheslavVolodin appreciated the official visit by General Secretary of the CommunistParty of Vietnam Nguyen Phu Trong, saying that it will contribute greatly todeepening the Russia-Vietnam comprehensive strategic partnership, of whichparliamentary ties is an important part.
During a meetingwith the CPV leader in Moscow on September 7,the Russian top legislator spoke highly of the increasing position and role of Vietnam in the region and the internationalarena, and affirmed that the Russian Duma pays special attention to promotingthe cooperation in all fields between Russiaand Vietnam.
GeneralSecretary Trong congratulated Russiafor successfully organizing the 137th General Assembly of the InternationalParliamentarian Union (IPU), which he said reiterated Russia’s prestigeand important position in the international arena as well as in the world’slargest parliamentary organization. He thanked the State Duma of Russia, whichcomprises representatives from various political parties and forces, for theirconsensus with the policy to develop the friendship, solidarity andmulti-faceted cooperation between the two countries and two peoples.
Both host andguest valued the effective partnership between the Russian State Duma andVietnamese National Assembly, and agreed that the two legislative bodies shouldcontinue to exchange delegations at high level, committee level and friendshipparliamentarians’ group level so as to enhance mutual understanding, and sharelaw-making experience while working to create favourable legal conditions forhandling issues related to traveling, living and working of each country’scitizens in the other’s territories.
They agreed thatbesides bilateral cooperation, the two sides should enhance coordination andconsultation at inter-parliamentary forums such as the IPU and the Asia-PacificParliamentary Forum.
They also calledfor the two countries’ parliaments to support stronger economic, trade andinvestment ties and facilitate the implementation of prioritized joint projectswhile strengthening supervision of the enforcement of agreements between thetwo governments, thus creating positive changes in Vietnam-Russia cooperation.
The CPV leadertook the occasion to extend an invitation to visit Vietnam from National AssemblyChairwoman Nguyen Thi Kim Ngan to the Russian Duma chairman, who accepted theinvitation with pleasure. -VNA
