Addressing 300 Czech guests andVietnamese nationals, Vietnamese Ambassador Truong Manh Son said since February2, 1950, ties between Vietnam and the Czech Republic have been growing intotraditional friendship and comprehensive cooperation. Two-way trade last yearhit 1 billion USD.
Vice President of the Senate JaroslavKubera lauded bilateral traditional ties over the past years and the Vietnamesenationals’ integration in the host country as a successful model of a foreign communityin a multi-ethnic, multi-cultural and multi-religious nation.
According to him, the Czech Republicand Vietnam hold great potential of tourism exchange.
At the event, Ambassador Son and CzechDeputy Foreign Minister Lukas Kaucky presented the insignia “For Peace andFriendship among Nations” of the Vietnam Union of Friendship Organisations(VUFO) to political, social and cultural activists and several Czechbusinesspeople for contributions to the comprehensive partnership between thetwo countries.
In his speech, Kaucky pledged to dohis best to facilitate visa issuance to Vietnamese citizens in order to boosteconomic and tourism links, with the opening of a Consulate in Ho Chi Minh Cityas the first task.-VNA
