The request was made byGeneral Tran Dai Quang, Politburo member, Minister of Public Securityand head of the Central Highlands Steering Committee, at his workingsession with the office in Dak Lak province on May 24.
He wasbriefed of the region’s socio-economic development, defence-security andthe office’s operation from the beginning of this year.
Hedirected the body to work with regional provinces in facilitatinginvestment in transport infrastructure construction, especially on theHo Chi Minh highway that runs through the Central Highlands. The routeis expected to open for traffic by mid-2015.
Quang also asked theoffices of the steering committees for the Central Highlands and thenorthwestern region, as well as both regions’ provinces, to tackle theproblem of unplanned migration.
He also requested thatchecks be regularly conducted in hydro-power projects in the CentralHighlands and surrounding areas, and that the resettlement of peoplemaking way for project sites be carried out without delay.
Forest protection and management also need to be intensified, he said.
Inaddition, Quang stressed the importance of promoting socio-economicdevelopment, ensuring national security, maintaining social order andsafety, facilitating sustainable development and attracting foreign anddomestic investment to the Central Highlands.-VNA
