Dak Nong (VNA) – A conference was held in Dak Nong on December 3 to review outcomes of communications campaigns targeting religious ethnic women in the Central Highlands region.
During 2015, the Vietnam Women’s Union and its local chapters together with the Central Highlands Steering Committee had coordinated a range of communications programmes, drawing the participation of more than 750,000 female residents of Kon Tum, Gia Lai, Dak Lak, Dak Nong and Lam Dong.
These campaigns aimed to raise women’s vigilance for outlandish cults and human trafficking and encourage them to stay away from illegal activities and social evils.
Meanwhile, billions of dong had been poured into building houses, schools and water wells, among other facilities to raise their living standard.
According to Bui Thi Hoa, Vice Chairwoman of the Vietnam Women’s Union, the collaboration with the regional steering committee has made the Union’s programmes suitable for each locality.
The cooperation would continue for campaigns to be implemented next year, she said.
The Central Highlands, comprising Dak Lak, Lam Dong, Dak Nong, Kon Tum and Gia Lai provinces, is home to 5.5 million people, 36.85 percent of which are from 53 ethnic minority groups.-VNA
