Can Tho (VNA) – Can Tho University in the Mekong Delta city of thesame name and the Centre for Chinese Cultural Studies under the Chinese Academyof Social Sciences’ Institute of Philosophy discussed cooperation in humanresources training and scientific research on March 14.
Speaking at a meetingin Can Tho with the centre’s Director Li He, Vice Rector of Can Tho UniversityNguyen Thanh Phuong said that the university is currently the largest trainingcentre in the Mekong Delta region.
In the WebometricsRanking of World Universities released in July 2018, Can Tho University wasranked third in Vietnam, 57th in Southeast Asia, 703rd in Asia, and 2,174th inthe world.
With its strategy ofbecoming an excellent university in research and training in multi-majors andmulti-sectors to provide better human resources for the region and the entirenation, Can Tho university hopes to cooperate with the Chinese centre invarious aspects, Phuong added.
Li He appreciated theuniversity’s position and role in the educational sector in Vietnam inparticular and in the world in general.
He voiced his hope tocoordinate with the university through student exchanges and research cooperation,especially in philosophy and Southeast Asian culture.
At the meeting, bothsides also expressed their wish to establish a Chinese cultural space at CanTho University, which will serve as premise to open Chinese language teaching andcultural research centres in the Mekong Delta, thus contributing to the tighteningof Vietnam-China relations.–VNA
