Can Tho (VNA) – The Mekong Delta city of Can Tho plans to upgradethe Cai Rang Floating Market with total investment of 8 billion VND (351,840 USD),according to Pham Van Luan, deputy director of the city’s Department ofCulture, Sports and Tourism.
The project, which involves upgrading the power grid infrastructure on theriver, building piers and public restrooms, and collecting garbage, aims toboost tourism and attract more visitors to the floating market.
It is important to upgrade the floating market since 70 to 80 percent ofdomestic and international tourists to Can Tho visit it, Luan said.
In addition to tourism activities, the city hosts many extracurricularactivities at the market for students from other provinces.-VNA
