Hanoi (VNA) – The Mekong Delta City of Can Tho was chosen as a member of the US-based Rockefeller Foundation’s 100 Resilient Cities Network (100RC).
Can Tho was selected from 325 candidates to be included in the network along with other 36 new members. This showed that Can Tho is developing resilient strategies and becoming a model for other cities worldwide.
By joining the network, Can Tho will receive critical tools, financial and technical assistances from organisations like Swiss Re, Microsoft, the World Bank, and the International Rescue Committee .
Since its inception in 2013, 100RC has received more than 1,000 applications to join its network.
With the addition of Can Tho and the 36 other new inductees together with the 63 existing members, the list of 100 Resilient Cities is now complete. It aims to show the global community a new way of building urban resilience.
In 2013, Vietnam’s central Da Nang city joined the network, and the city is now in the process of developing its resilient strategy.-VNA
