Thee-blood bank is expected to see the participation of cities andprovinces nationwide together with 65,000 agencies, organisations andbusinesses, and gather at least 6,500 persons in reserve for givingblood to needy patients.
The blood donation campaign 2011 willbegin on May 8 through September 2, targeting to collect 193,800 bloodunits to help ease serious needs of blood in emergency cases andtreatments as well.
The “Red Blood Drops” campaign is jointlylaunched by the Central Committee of the Vietnam Red Cross Society andthe National Steering Board for Voluntary Blood Donations.
Startedin 2009, voluntary blood donation activities have thus far witnessedenthusiastic response by people from all walks of life nationwide.
In 2010, 670,435 blood units were collected, a year-on-year increase of 11.5 percent, 84 percent of which came from donors./.
