Vice President of the opposition Cambodia National Rescue Party (CNRP)Kem Sokha was elected the first Vice President of the NationalAssembly, while Ngon Nhel from the ruling Cambodian People’s Party (CPP)became the second Vice President.
The confidentialvote was to realise an agreement reached by the two parties on July 22on sharing power in the parliament in an effort to end politicaldeadlocks after the CNRP rejected the election results on July 28 lastyear and boycotted the legislative body.
Under thedeal, each party will lead five commissions in the National Assembly,with the newly established Commission on Investigation andAnti-Corruption to be controlled by the CNRP.-VNA
