Cambodia’s new election committee goes into effect

The newly- formed National Election Committee (NEC) of Cambodia will officially assume its duties on April 13 after a ceremony to transfer power from the previous NEC on the same day.

On April 9, a list of the nine members of the new NEC was approved by the country’s National Assembly.

Sik Bun Hok, a former member of theCambodian People’s Party (CPP), was appointed NEC Chairman and Kuoy BunRoen, a former member of Cambodia National Rescue Party (CNRP), wasselected as the Vice Chairman.

Speaking at theceremony, Sik Bun Hok affirmed that the committee will do its utmost toperform its tasks with independence, neutrality, integrity,transparency.-VNA

Indonesia begins major oil, gas exploration in Sulawesi

Indonesia's state-owned oil company Pertamina, along with foreign partners Sinopec from China and Kuwait’s Kufpec, has signed a contract to explore the Melati oil and gas block, located off the coast of Sulawesi. The block is estimated to contain trillions of cubic feet of gas reserves.
