Phnom Penh (VNA) – Cambodia’sexports increased 17 percent year-on-year to reach 7.7 billion USD in the firstnine months of 2017, according to Director General of the Cambodian Chamber ofCommerce Nguon Meng Tech.
The rise was mainly driven by garment-textileand footwear, which brought home 4.9 billion USD, up 8.3 percent against thesame period last year.
Cambodia exported three billion USD worth ofgoods to the European Union in January-September, a year-on-year increase of5.94 percent.
The country also earned more than 534 millionUSD from shipments to Japan, up 25.84 percent against the same period lastyear.
Despite a decline in apparel exports to the US,Cambodia’s overall exports to the market still increased 5.6 percent to hit2.28 billion USD.-VNA
