Phnom Penh (VNA) - The Cambodian Senate passed changes to the Lawon Political Parties on July 18, one week after the National Assemblyadopted them.
The meeting saw participation of 42 senators of the ruling Cambodian People’sParty (CPP) and no representatives from the opposition party Sam Rainsy.
The law aims to reinforce the law-ruling state, promote the rights and the dutyof every citizen as well as the responsibility of every political party toguarantee proper respect for the constitution and the law.
The amendments need to be approved bythe Cambodian Constitutional Council and signed by the King before they arebrought into effect.
The Law on Political Partieswas first ratified in 1997./. -VNA
