Phnom Penh (VNA) - A large number of domestic and foreign tourists have flocked to the well-known tourism sites in Cambodia on the occasion of Chol Chnam Thmay New Year festival, reported local media.
About 258,000 tourists visited Angkor Wat temple complex in the province of Siem Reap, up 66 percent against the same period last year, according to director of the provincial Department of Tourism Chhei Chhon. Of the figure, foreign arrivals reached 18,000, an increase of 12 percent.
Meanwhile, the number of tourists to Sihanoukville, Kep and Koh Kong provinces increased sharply.
Kep province welcomed about 83,000 visitors in the period, up 12 percent, said Som Chanh Da, director of the provincial Department of Tourism.-VNA
