Cambodia and Thailand have promoted trade activities in a bid toincrease bilateral trade turnover to over five billion USD in 2015, saidCambodian Commerce Secretary of State Chhuon Dara.
According tothe secretary, trade between Cambodia and Thailand topped five billionUSD in 2014, an 11 percent increase from last year's 4.5 billion U.S.dollars.
Cambodia’s exports to Thailand have increased constantlyand reached 576 million USD in 2014, but the figure is modest comparedto the total trade value, he added.
The secretary called onThailand to invest more in Cambodia and create favourable conditions forCambodia’s agricultural products to enter its market.
He notedCambodia is implementing deep and extensive reforms in trade whilesupporting domestic businesses in manufacturing to increase exportsvalue and competiveness in preparation for the establishment of theASEAN Economic Community at the end of 2015.
Thai Ambassador toCambodia Nuttaavudh Photisaro said Thailand is ready to support itsbusinesses to invest to Cambodia, which he said is an important tradepartner of Thailand.
In the first quarter of 2015, totalbilateral trade turnover of the two countries was estimated to reachover 1.6 billion USD, of which Thailand’s exports to Cambodiaaccounted for 1.3 billion USD.-VNA
