Thethree-day event features a display of Cambodia ’s key ricevarieties, trade promotion seminars and a programme to evaluate ricequality.

With more than 80 percent of the population involvingin the agricultural sector, rice production is considered as one of thepillars of the Cambodian economy.

In 2013, Cambodiaproduced 9.4 million tonnes of unhusked rice, with over 3 million tonnesfor export. Especially, its jasmine rice has been twice named the bestin the world in Indonesia and Hong Kong (China).

The country sets a target of exporting 1 million tonnes of rice in 2015.-VNA

Indonesia begins major oil, gas exploration in Sulawesi

Indonesia's state-owned oil company Pertamina, along with foreign partners Sinopec from China and Kuwait’s Kufpec, has signed a contract to explore the Melati oil and gas block, located off the coast of Sulawesi. The block is estimated to contain trillions of cubic feet of gas reserves.
