Cambodia and Laos vowed to boost their bilateral relations and cooperation for mutual benefits during Lao President Thongloun Sisoulith’s State visit to the neighbouring country on April 23-24.

Phnom Penh (VNA) - Cambodia and Laos vowedto boost their bilateral relations and cooperation for mutual benefits during LaoPresident Thongloun Sisoulith’s State visit to the neighbouring country onApril 23-24.

At a meeting between the Lao leader and CambodianPrime Minister Hun Manet in Phnom Penh on April 23, the two sides agreed tofurther promote bilateral cooperation in a number of major areas, includingenergy, connectivity, border affairs, transnational crime combat, defence andsecurity, as well as people-to-people exchange.

Hun Manet asked the Lao side to find appropriatemeasures to ensure a sustainable and timely supply of electricity to Cambodia.

For border affairs, Thongloun Sisoulith confirmed theLao side’s readiness to work with Cambodia based on the Cambodia-Laos BorderDemarcation Treaty 2023.

Thongloun Sisoulith thanked Cambodia for its supportto Laos as ASEAN Chair 2024, stressing that Laos will learn from the success ofCambodia who held the ASEAN Chairmanship in 2022.

He said Laos is looking forward to welcoming Hun Manetto attend the ASEAN Summits in October in Vientiane./.
