Phnom Penh (VNA) – The National Election Committee (NEC) of Cambodiaon August 11 announced the preliminary results of the July 29 general election.
Accordingly, 83.02 percent or around 6.96 million out of8.38 million voters cast their ballots in the election of the sixth NationalAssembly.
The Cambodian People’s Party (CPP) won the most votes in thegeneral election with 4.889 million votes.
It was followed by the National United Front for anIndependent, Neutral, Peaceful, and Cooperative Cambodia (FUNCINPEC) with374,510 votes; the League for Democracy Party (LDP) with 309,364 votes; and theKhmer Will Party (KWP) with 212,869 votes.
The remaining political parties received from more than4,000 votes to 100,000 votes.
The figures change a little bit compared with the initialresults also announced by the NEC on July 29 and 30.
The NEC also said that parties can make complaints on a partor all of the results within 72 hours from 7am of August 11 (local time).
If no complaints are raised, the committee will announce theofficial results on August 15.
The election of the sixth National Assembly took place from7am to 3pm on July 29, drawing the participation of 20 political parties.-VNA
