Cambodia exports over 330,000 tonnes of rice in 11 months

Cambodia exported 335,925 tonnes of rice in the first 11 months of 2014, up from 332,009 tonne shipped in the same period last year, Reuters quoted a report of the Secretariat of One Window Service for Rice Export Formality (SOWS-REF) as saying.

In November alone, the country shipped 31,137 tonnes, including 16,862 tonnes of Phkarumduol rice.

Duringthe reviewed period, France imported the largest volume of rice fromCambodia with 61,967 tonnes, followed by Poland (53,152 tonnes),Malaysia (39,222 tonnes), China (30,646 tonnes) and the Netherlands(30,044 tonnes).

Kim Savuth, Vice President of theFederation of Cambodian Rice Exporters, said the country saw a slightincrease in rice exports in the 11 months due to tough competitions withother countries such as Vietnam and Thailand.-VNA

Indonesia begins major oil, gas exploration in Sulawesi

Indonesia's state-owned oil company Pertamina, along with foreign partners Sinopec from China and Kuwait’s Kufpec, has signed a contract to explore the Melati oil and gas block, located off the coast of Sulawesi. The block is estimated to contain trillions of cubic feet of gas reserves.
