Cambodia earns 7.7 billion USD from exports in 2014

Cambodia’s export turnover hit 7.7 billion USD in 2014, a year-on-year 11.5 percent rise, unveiled the Ministry of Trade on January 2.

Apparel held the 80-percent lion’s share of the total export value.

The country’s major trade partners were Thailand, the US, the EU, China, the Republic of Korea, Japan, and Vietnam.

Cambodia raked in 1.7 billion USD and 2.35 billion USD from the US and the EU, respectively.

It sold to Vietnam mostly corn, peanut, and rubber, which were worth nearly 50 million USD.

Cambodia imported commodities valued at 10.4 billion USD, rising 15.5percent against 2013. The major import goods included garment andtextile materials, petroleum, construction materials, cars, food andmedicines.-VNA

Indonesia begins major oil, gas exploration in Sulawesi

Indonesia's state-owned oil company Pertamina, along with foreign partners Sinopec from China and Kuwait’s Kufpec, has signed a contract to explore the Melati oil and gas block, located off the coast of Sulawesi. The block is estimated to contain trillions of cubic feet of gas reserves.
