The information wasreleased at a meeting between the defence attaché of the VietnameseEmbassy in Cambodia, Colonel Nguyen Anh Dung, and representatives fromCambodia’s Military Region 2 and the five provinces in Kampong Champrovince on July 30.
On the occasion, Colonel Dunghanded over to the Cambodian side financial support for Cambodia’s unitsand local authorities in carrying out information gathering and searchactivities in this field.
The special task forcecommittees of Vietnam and Cambodia estimated that the remains of about5,000 Vietnamese soldiers who died in Cambodia during past wars arestill not found. The two governments have set the goal to complete thesearch and retrieval of Vietnamese soldiers’ remains by 2020.
Earlier,in working sessions with the Vietnamese defence attaché delegation inCambodia, representatives from Military Regions 1 and 3 and localauthorities in these regions also pledged to continue supporting Vietnamin the work.-VNA
