Phnom Penh (VNA) - The Cambodian Ministry of Education onOctober 12 announced that it has given a green light to public universities across the country to reopen after months of closure to prevent the outbreak ofCOVID-19.
All public higher education institutions are allowed resume operation asfrom October 12, under the condition that they strictly respect and practisethe Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) and other existing rules andregulations related to preventing the spread of the virus, the announcementsaid.
RosSoveacha, the ministry's spokesman, said each university must follow thehealth measures set by the Ministry of Health and the World Health Organisation (WHO).
Heng Vanda, Board Director of Higher Education Association, said theSOPs contain guidelines to facilitate day-to-day management and administrationfor all schools and universities in Cambodia in the context of COVID-19.
Bothprofessors and students have to wear masks, bring hand sanitiser with them andpractise social distancing, he said, adding that they even have to bring foodfrom home while there cannot be more than 25 people in one class./.
