Cambodia will welcome thousands of athletes from across the region coming to participate to the 32nd SEA Games at Morodok Techo National Stadium in Phnom Penh on May 5, the first time the country plays host.

Hanoi (VNA) – Cambodia will welcome thousandsof athletes from across the region coming to participate to the 32nd SEA Games atMorodok Techo National Stadium in Phnom Penh on May 5, the first time thecountry plays host.

According to Vath Chamroeun, Secretary General of theCambodia SEA Games Organising Committee (CAMSOC), theopening and closing ceremonies of the 32nd SEA Games will be carried out at"Olympic level".

The athletes from 11 regional nations will parade theirflags on the opening night at Phnom Penh’s 60,000-seater Morodok TechoNational Stadium.

"Welcome Cambodia", "This is ourtime" and "Cambodia is our home” composed by the Union of YouthFederation of Cambodia (UYFC) will be staged on the opening night. In additionto the songs, the celebration will also see performances of band MCT125 of theRoyal Gendarmerie of Cambodia, an Asia martial arts duel between Cambodian KunBokator fighters and Chinese Shaolin.

In particular, Cambodian Prime Minister Samdech TechoHun Sen will announce the opening of the 32nd SEA Games and light the torch ofthe Games. Besides, fireworks display around Morodok Techo Stadium will also beperformed./.
