Ca Mau (VNA) – The southernmost coastal province of Ca Mau aims to achieve1.1 billion USD worth of export revenue in 2017, said Pham Bach Dang, standing vicesecretary of the provincial Party Committee.
To realisethe goal, Ca Mau prioritises improving business climate and administrativeprocedures, intensifying trade promotion activities and expanding exportmarkets.
Theprovince expects to earn 1 billion USD from exports in 2016, or only 77 percentof the year’s plan. This is the second year in a row the province has failed tomeet its export target.
Dangattributed the failure to the low value of some major currency earners, particularly fertilizers and fishery products.
The recoveryof the shrimp industry in many countries coupled with fluctuated exchange rateof the US dollar have reduced prices of Vietnamese export shrimp, he explained.
Local seafoodproducers are working to shake up technologies and assembly lines for betterprocessing capacity and product quality.
In additionto developing concentrated shrimp farming, Ca Mau is implementing a range ofeco-farming models that provide clean materials for local seafood processors.-VNA
