The southernmost province of Ca Mau will register for the recognition ofcollective trademarks for its four specialities, namely Thoi Binhsalted river fish, Nam Can sea crab, Dong Hung salted bulrush and TanThanh goby, this year.
It has so far completedprocedures to submit the applications to the National Office ofIntellectual Property of Vietnam (NOIP).
At the sametime, the province has submitted a proposal to the Ministry of Scienceand Technology to approve a “Ca Mau” geographical indicator for itstiger prawns.
The provincial Department of Scienceand Technology has collaborated with relevant branches and agencies topopularise intellectual property knowledge in the community and directindividuals and organisations to conduct procedures to register theirtrademarks.
The NOIP has recognised and protectedthree Ca Mau province collective trademarks, namely U Minh honey, U Minhsnakeskin gourami and Rach Goc dried shrimp.-VNA
