Ca Mau (VNA) – The southernmostprovince of Ca Mau has actively devised comprehensive measures to preserve anddevelop its 92,000 ha of concentrated forests.

Focus has been put on publicity campaigns toenhance the awareness of forests protection among communities while improvingforest management.

Efforts have also been undertaken to betterforests planning and development by 2020, and to plant more forests,particularly cajuput and coastal protection forests.

Enterprises have been encouraged to invest inproduction forest planting and wood processing factories for exports.

Management of mangrove forests, includingcoastal protection forests, has been strengthened with focus on fire preventionand salt intrusion.

The locality has also made planning onresidential areas in the forests, to ensure stable living condition for localresidents while protecting and developing the forests.

Ca Mau is home to 92,000 hectares ofconcentrated forests, accounting for 77 percent of the Mekong Delta region’forest coverage.

The province’s forest coverage includes 54,000hectares of mangrove in
Nam Can, Ngoc Hien, Dam Doi and Phu Tandistricts; and the 37,000-ha U Minh Ha cajuput forest that spreads across UMinh, Tran Van Thoi, and Thoi Binh.

U Minh Ha National Park was recognised by UNESCOas one of the three core zones of the Ca Mau World Biosphere Reserve in June2009.

The Mekong Delta province of Bac Lieu on October 21 signed a cooperation agreement with Uiseong county, Gyeongsangbuk-do province of the Republic of Korea (RoK) on sending local labourers to the RoK to work seasonally under the form of locality-to-locality collaboration between the two countries in the 2023 - 2027 period.
