President of the Vietnam Fatherland Front (VFF) Central Committee HuynhDam has congratulated local Buddhists on the occasion of Buddha’s birthanniversary.
In his letter sent to the Vietnam Buddhist Sangha (VBS), Dam highly valued Buddhism’s great contributions to the nation.
“Since its foundation, the VBS has always encouraged monks, nuns andfollowers nationwide to implement the Party policies and the State law,and eagerly take part in patriotic emulation movements, contributing tostrengthening the national great unity bloc and to the nationalconstruction and defence,” he wrote.
He expressedhis belief that with the motto of “Religion – the Nation and Socialism”,the VBS, together with monks, nuns and followers in and outside thecountry, will always go with the nation and promote the tradition ofdefending the country and protecting the people.
He called on the Sangha to continue promoting its role as a member ofthe VFF, contributing to the national great unity bloc in the new stageof development for prosperous people, a strong nation, and a democratic,fair and civilised society.
He also wished the 7 th National Congress of the VBS every success.-VNA
