Border control facilities at Thailand-Myanmar bridge to be built

The Thai Department of Highways is ready to begin constructions for the border control facilities at the second Thailand-Myanmar Friendship Bridge to promote the Special Economic Zone in Mae Sot district, Tak province.
Bangkok (NNT/VNA) – The Thai Departmentof Highways is ready to begin constructions for the border control facilitiesat the second Thailand-Myanmar Friendship Bridge to promote the SpecialEconomic Zone in Mae Sot district, Tak province.

Highway Department Director General ThaninSomboon disclosed that the Highways Department had constructed the 2nd Thailand-MyanmarFriendship Bridge to accommodate the increasing cargo volume and support theEast-West Economic Corridor.

For the construction of the border controlfacilities, the Highways Department will approve a construction contract laterthis year while the construction will be completed by October 2019, he said.

He added that the construction budget ofthe border control facilities is set at 1.127 billion baht. The building willbe separated into two parts including a passenger terminal and a cargoterminal.-VNA
