Binh Thuan, Russia’s Kaluga province boost ties

Moscow (VNA) – Visiting Permanent Vice Secretaryof the central Binh Thuan provincial Party Committee Huynh Thanh Canh introducedlocal strengths and potential via a video clip during a working session withGovernor of Russia’s Kaluga province Anatoly Artamonov on April 22.

Canh said with a 192km coastline and favourable nationalconditions, including the famous Mui Ne beach, Binh Thuan advocates promotingresort and sport tourism.

Last year, Russian tourist arrivals to Binh Thuan surpassed600,000, accounting for 25 percent of the total. The construction of aninternational airport capable of welcoming 2 million passengers each year inlate 2019 will make it easier for Binh Thuan and Kaluga to boost bilateraltourism cooperation, he said.

According to him, Binh Thuan is strong in dragon fruits andseafood which have been shipped to 15 countries and territories worldwide suchas the Republic of Korea, Japan and the European Union. However, its exports toRussia and Kaluga in particular remain modest.

Canh said the Binh Thuan authorities want to create abreakthrough in bilateral coordination via the visit.

The guest suggested strengthening bilateral links acrosstrade, export, tourism; processing of farm produce, aquatic products andpoultry meat; education and training; and use of technology in light industry,health care and processing.

Artamonov, for his part, said two-way trade between Kalugaand Vietnamese localities hiked four-fold last year, placing Vietnam at the 20th among the 120 countries investing in the province.

He committed all possible support to investors, especiallyprojects underway at Kaluga special economic zone and special socio-economicdevelopment territories.

The host said one year ago, the first container vesseldeparted from Kaluga, travelled to Moscow and landed in Vietnam within 20 days,saving half of the time compared to conventional vessels.

Concluding the working session, Canh presented the draftcooperation agreement between Binh Thuan and Kaluga to the Governor.

Vietnamese Ambassador to Russia Ngo Duc Manh expressed hishope that the deal could be signed during the upcoming Russia visit by PrimeMinister Nguyen Xuan Phuc.

During the stay, the Vietnamese delegation held workingsessions with the Moscow legislation agency, the Vietnamese BusinessAssociation in Russia, and visited Vorsino industrial zone,
administrative centre of Kaluga special economic zone,Tekleor company majoring in anti-bacterial food processing, and F-trout companyspecialised in aquaculture and floriculture.-VNA
