Binh Duong expands cooperation with Lao province

The southern province of Binh Duong wishes to expand its cooperation, especially in economics, with Champassak province of Laos , said Secretary of the provincial Party Committee Mai The Trung.

At a recent workingsession with a Champassak delegation led by its Party CommitteeSecretary Sukan Mahalat, Trung expressed his wish that Champassakleaders will continue creating favourable conditions for theVietnam-Laos Dau Tieng Rubber Joint Stock Company to implement itsrubber planting project in the province and for the Binh DuongProduction and Import-Export Company to implement a project to build acomplex of golf courses and hotels in Pakse and Phonthong districts.

He also suggested the two provinces jointly survey locations andsources of materials to boost the implementation of ceramics,construction material and metal mineral projects in Champassakprovince.

For his part, Sukan Mahalat expressed thanks for Binh Duong province’ssupport for his province to organise sports activities and upgraderural traffic roads.

He pledged to facilitate Binh Duong’s investment projects and wishedthe two provinces will continue their comprehensive developmentcooperation in various fields.

In late 2006, the Binh Duong and Champassak leaders signed an agreementon developing their friendship and cooperation. The Binh Duong-basedDau Tieng Rubber JSC’s project to plant 30,000 ha of industrial treesin Champassak province has so far planted 4,600 ha of rubber and anadditional 2,000 ha is expected to be covered by the end of this year.

Binh Duong province provided 900,000 USD for the Lao province to buildand upgrade a number of works serving the Laos National Sports Games2008 and the 25 th Southeast Asian Games (SEA Games 25).

It granted scholarships for 15 Champassak students while Champassak trained four Binh Duong officials in the Lao language./.
