Binh Dinh (VNA) – The Department of Health of central Binh Dinh province on May 16 provided training for medical workers at local health providers caring for pregnant women during the Zika virus outbreak.
The attendees to the course were given updates on the current situation of the outbreak in Vietnam and worldwide in line with interim guidelines issued by the Ministry of Health on screening and caring for pregnant women with potential Zika virus exposure.
According to the department’s director Le Quang Hung, the training course will be run until June 4.
A wide range of activities for the outbreak prevention will be underway in addition to the training. The province plans to increase public awareness of precaution measures against Zika virus and enhance Zika screening at ports and airports, he said.
It also pledged to ensure sufficient supply of medicine and medical equipment in order to handle any Zika emergency.-VNA
