Biggest Southeast Asian ceramic fair held in Indonesia

Thefour-day event continues to be the central arena for the industry tocongregate in the largest ceramics-producing country in the SoutheastAsia and one of the largest ceramic consumers in the world, Indonesia.

Eventparticipants include domestic and international exhibitors fromSingapore, Malaysia, China, Thailand, Italy and 25 other countriesshowcasing products.

Speaking at the opening ceremony, IndonesianMinister of Industry Saleh Husin noted that the fair will help bolsterthe development of the country’s ceramic industry nationally andinternationally.

The country’s three-decade-old sector isconsidered one of the nation’s leading industries. The event presents anopportunity for budding industries to exchange information and createpartnerships between businesses and consumers, he added.

Meanwhile,Chairman of the Indonesia Ceramic Industry Association (ASAKI), ElisaSinaga asserted KERAMIKA plays an important role in assisting the growthof ceramic industries in the country by showcasing the latest ceramicdesigns, products and technology to domestic and international markets.

Theevent will include a number of activities including forums, designcompetitions, and distribution and logistics seminars for the sector.

KERAMIKA has gained significant momentum in Indonesia over the past 3years, demonstrating the importance of the robust ceramic industry inthe region.-VNA

Indonesia begins major oil, gas exploration in Sulawesi

Indonesia's state-owned oil company Pertamina, along with foreign partners Sinopec from China and Kuwait’s Kufpec, has signed a contract to explore the Melati oil and gas block, located off the coast of Sulawesi. The block is estimated to contain trillions of cubic feet of gas reserves.
