Ben Tre (VNA) – Awater supply station, which can turn saltwater with salinity of 16‰ into fresh water, was inaugurated inAn Hiep commune, Ba Tri district, the southern province of Ben Tre, on November26.
The An Hiep waterstation will be able to filter 1,000 cubic metres of surface water of the GiongNhut canal per day to serve about 1,500 households.
Depending on demands of local people, its water supply network will be expandedin the future, as will its capacity.
Chairman of the BaTri district People’s Committee Duong Minh Tung said that Ba Tri is one of the threecoastal districts of Ben Tre province that usually faces fresh water shortage,therefore, the water station will support local lives.
Currently, the TanMy water supply plant in the district meets 44.7 percent of local people’sfresh water demand.-VNA
