Banks recruit thousands of employees in 2017

Together with high profits of trillions of VND at the end of 2017, domestic commercial banks reportedly hired thousands of employees to boost their performances and seize new opportunities.

Hanoi (VNA) -  Together with high profits of trillions of VND atthe end of 2017, domestic commercial banks reportedly hired thousands ofemployees to boost their performances and seize new opportunities.

According to recent statistics, 15 Vietnamesebanks recruited 20,000 additional employees last year, up 13 percent over 2016,raising their total to 178,000 personnel by the end of 2017.

Of this total, LienVietPostBank experienced thegreatest growth of 43 percent, followed by VP Bank, HD Bank and MB Bank, with37 percent, 24 percent and 43 percent, respectively.

According to VPBank’s financial reports, at theend of 2017, the total employees of the bank increased by 6,500 from thebeginning to 23,879, in which the head office accounted for 2,100 and twosubsidiaries made up the remaining.

MB Bank said it hired 2,438 recruits to add amajor source of staff to its subsidiaries MCredit and MB Ageas Life.

Similarly, HD Bank employed more than 2,600positions of which the personnel recruited for its subsidiary HD Saigon made upover 60 percent.

Other banks such as Eximbank, ACB, and Sacombankalso recruited a higher number of staff last year. Specifically, Sacombankfilled more than 1,400 new positions in 2017, compared to nearly 600 in 2016.Techcombank employees saw an increase of 1,000 people, up 13 percent againstthe beginning of the year.

Eximbank and ACB alsoincreased the number by 891 and 168, respectively.

Meanwhile, State-owned banks such as Vietcombankand Vietinbank also hired 612 and 827 new employees respectively, up 4 percentover the beginning of 2017.

BIDV that cutpersonnel heavily in the previous years also claimed to recruit again.
The majority of new recruits are assigned to thesales department and customer care services with a focus on the customerfinance sector.

Banking experts said that retail bankingservices including customer lending have become increasingly popular in recenttimes and have been determined as a business strategy of several banks. Withthe aim of seizing the opportunities from this sector, the banks are expectedto hire more employees in the upcoming time.

Apart from the official staff, banks also hireda larger number of talented students as interns who would be an importantsource for banks to select official employees.-VNA
