Hanoi (VNA) – Street food stalls will be swept from main roads in Bangkok,Thailand, in an effort to re-organise urban order.
Thelocal authorities said all types of stalls, including clothes, goods and foodwill be banned from main city roads for order and hygiene reasons.
Asthe stalls leave a little space for pedestrians, the cleanup is imperative tokeep street clean and clear, they said.
Priorto Songkran festival, Bangkok city’s authorities took hard measures on streetvendors and food stalls by forcing a well-known street food area to move out.
However,residents said the chaos is part of the capital's charm that attractsinternational visitors.
Thestalls are a cultural feature of “the country of temples” and also a “saviour”of low – income earners in the capital city.
Inaddition, thanks to the food stands, Bangkok was named the city with the world’sbest street food for two consecutive years. -VNA
