Bac Giang (VNA) – Bac Giang province, a magnet for foreign direct investment (FDI) in the northern region, will pay more attention to promoting digital transformation in enterprises in the coming time, according to Vice Chairman of the provincial People’s Committee Mai Son.

Bac Giang is aiming for 50% of small- and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) in the province to use digital platforms by 2025 and 70% by 2030. To that end, it is focusing on supporting businesses in their digital transformation efforts, fostering the development of digital technology companies, and widely applying digital technology achievements across various socio-economic sectors. The province's support includes helping enterprises join e-commerce platforms, e-commerce-enabled websites, and connect with trading platforms.

From now to 2025, the provincial Department of Planning and Investment will build policies and solutions to attract investment, with focus on enterprises operating in digital technology, high technology and e-commerce; promote the development of new products, services, and economic models based on digital technology in the province; and facilitate the digital transformation process.

The department will research and propose the establishment of a concentrated technology industrial park/cluster, which is oriented to join the Quang Trung Software City to attract high-quality investment and develop digital technology enterprises. Additionally, it will implement activities to support small- and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs), and those operating in traditional industries, and providing services on digital platforms.

The provincial Department of Information and Communications will provide big data analytics on market trends both domestically and internationally via the province's Open Data Portal, thus helping businesses better orient, and develop digital transformation strategies and plans for appropriate digital economic development. It will strengthen collaboration with major groups such as Viettel, VNPT, and FPT to guide businesses in adopting a unified strategy for digital economic development within the province.

Meanwhile, the provincial Department of Industry and Trade will organise various e-commerce promotion programmes on major e-commerce platforms like Lazada, Shopee, Tiki, Sendo, Voso, and Postmart to enhance outreach within the local business community. It will also promote digital transformation in industrial manufacturing businesses by changing production processes and increasing the application of modern and innovative technology solutions.

Additionally, the department will facilitate the development of infrastructure and electronic payment solutions for trade and public services, focus on improving payment convenience through mobile platforms, e-wallets, and QR codes, and ensure safety for transactions, thus contributing to promoting electronic payments in e-commerce transactions.

Since 2021, the provincial People's Committee has issued various plans and decisions aimed at fostering the development of new products, services, and economic models based on digital technology in the province, thereby creating favourable conditions for the digital transformation process.

The province has also facilitated digital technology companies by streamlining market entry procedures through various methods, such as standardising administrative procedures and effectively implementing those for business startups, including integrating the works of social insurance registration, labour declaration, and invoice registration into the business registration process.

The locality has built plans and organised workshops to disseminate knowledge about digital technology and digital economic models to businesses in selected industrial zones for digital transformation. Additionally, it has signed a memorandum of understanding with Base.vn, a comprehensive business governance platform, to support local businesses, and advance the FPT-Bac Giang Digital Transformation Programme, targeting the digital transformation of 1,000 businesses with Base.vn from 2022 to 2025./.
