Ba Be aims for top eco-tourism site in Vietnam

The People’s Committee of the northern mountainous province of Bac Kan and the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism (MoCST) held a conference on June 17, on the investment and development of Ba Be Tourism Site, radio The Voice of Vietnam (VOV) reported.

Theinvestment project was approved by the Prime Minister in October 2013with the aim of developing Ba Be into a top ecological tourism site inVietnam.

Experts said that Bac Kan should develop different typesof tourism available in Ba Be lake, including adventure, ecological andspiritual tourism, making full use of its cave and falls systems andbreathtaking scenery.

They suggested that the province upgrade transport routes, and popularise Ba Be’s image to attract investment.

BaBe National Park is included in the Ramsar Convention on the list ofwetlands that are of international importance, and is the most famousand popular tourism destination in Bac Kan.

The bio-diversity inthe 10,000 ha park is also impressive, it is home to 1,268 species offlora and fauna. The site was also recognised as an ASEAN Heritage Parkin 2004.

Nguyen Anh Tuan, Deputy Director General ofSaigonotourist – the national leading tour operator- pledged to investin this site and asked for simplified investment procedures in thelocality.

MoCST Deputy Minister Ho Anh Tuan expressed hope thatSaigontourist will support Bac Kan in fully tapping the potential of BaBe tourism site. He also proposed that Bac Kan introduce investmentincentives, especially in the areas of transport and tourisminfrastructure, aiming to turn Ba Be Tourism Site into a majesticresort.-VNA
