Jakarta (VNA) – Automobile manufacturers inIndonesia are ready to resume production in June following the government’s enforcementof the “new normal” scenario, said Chairman of the Association of IndonesianAutomotive Manufacturers (Gaikindo) Yohannes Nangoi.
Toyota Motor Marketing Director Anton Jimmi said the firm isset to resume activities on June 1, adding that it will closely follow the government’sregulations on COVID-19 prevention and control.
PT Toyota Astra Motor also announced to restart productionat the same time. Its head office is in Jakarta, so it is waiting for thecity’s decision on the Large Scale Social Restriction (PSBB) policy to set theexact time of resumption.
Toyota Motor Manufacturing Indonesia Director ofAdministration, Corporations and External Relations Bob Azam said that thecompany had plans to resume operation at the beginning of June.
In the early phase, however, production lines will run at 50percent of capacity and physical distancing measures will be applied amongworkers, he added./.
