Australian Senate President begins official visit to Vietnam

A high-ranking delegation of the Australian Senate led by President Scott Ryan arrived in Hanoi on January 20 evening, beginning an official visit to Vietnam until January 25.

Hanoi (VNA) – A high-ranking delegation of theAustralian Senate led by President Scott Ryan arrived in Hanoi on January 20evening, beginning an official visit to Vietnam until January 25.

The trip is made at the invitation of NationalAssembly Chairwoman Nguyen Thi Kim Ngan.

Since the establishment of diplomatic ties in 1973, Vietnamand Australia have built strong and substantive relations on the basis ofmutual respect and interest.

The Vietnam-Australia Comprehensive Partnership, announced in2009 and enhanced in 2015, underlines the concerted efforts of the governmentsand people of the two countries to advance the bilateral relations. 

The two countries elevated their bilateral relationship to aStrategic Partnership in March 2018 during Prime Minister Nguyen Xuan Phuc’s officialvisit to Australia.–VNA
