HCM City (VNA) - The Australian Government, through Aus4Skills programme, one of itsAus4Vietnam investment, on December 14 launched the pilot Logistics IndustryReference Council to promote industry linkages with vocational education andtraining (VET) in partnership with the Government of Vietnam.
The pilot council aims to draw on theexample of Australia’s vocational education and training system and adapt it toVietnam’s context with stronger engagement with the business community.
“Australia is happy to share ourexperience in an industry-led vocational education and training system toassist Vietnam to develop a system that will increase its productivity andsupport its economic growth. Our system, developed over a number of decades, isunderpinned by a national framework of skills standards developed through aprocess of consultation with industry. This ensures that standards for trainingare of a high quality and meet the workforce development needs of industry, enterprisesand individuals,” said AustralianAmbassador to Vietnam Craig Chittick.
“The pilot Logistics Industry ReferenceCouncil is an innovative approach to actively engage the logistics enterprisesin VET. The council will validate the occupational skills standards developedunder the Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation (APEC) Transport and Logisticsproject which was led by Australia and Vietnam is a participating economy,”said Vo Tan Thanh, Vice President of the Vietnam Chamber of Commerce andIndustry.
The logistics sector has been selectedas a focal industry that can serve as a demonstration model that canpotentially be applied in other sectors in Vietnam.
This launch will be followed by thefirst workshop, from December 18-21, on competency-based curriculum writing foracademic leaders and senior trainers of selected VET colleges as well asenterprise-based trainers from logistics enterprises.-VNA
